3.9.10

Greetings Everyone,

I am happy to report that Ryan completed week 9 on a high note by passing skid pan! Although, there are many more tasks ahead it is good to have this completed as it was the demise of so many cadets. His next endeavor in EVOC will be the high speed track. He will most likely be scheduled for this in the next couple of weeks. Being that Ryan's company is completing driving now they will have the opportunity to also learn pit maneuvers. We are all familiar with these tactics used to stop people as they lead cops on high speed chases down the freeways.

Last week was the second time swimming replaced their normal PT classes. Again, Ryan was a life guard rescuing a cadet weighing in at 250 large! The instructors could not help but notice Ryan excelling at swimming and did not hesitate to ask him what happened to his swimmers physique. He told them that he used to swim and dive in high school, but had become complacent as an adult. The instructor pointed out that she thought that his best dive now-a-days was probably a cannonball!

This week they will be wrestling for PT. I can't wait to here how that goes. Ryan also wrestled in high school and I'm sure will be able to hold his own.

They have now started accident investigation and this is a major class that is very involved and difficult. Now that Ryan is in week 10 he is feeling the pressure that much more. The classes are getting more difficult, they are also having more night classes which takes away from their study time. They were issued their weapons today which in theory sounds cool to us, but to the cadet it adds much more. Carrying a weapon means more weight on the duty belt, more responsibility and more procedures to follow. They will start shooting at the range at the end of this week.

The cadets met with uniform vendors and were fitted for their actual tan Highway Patrol uniforms. They took beginning measurements and will take final measurements as it gets closer.
Ryan broke through his plateau and dropped 5 lbs this week. He continues to look better and better each week, however the staff officers still consider him to be a fat body. With losing 25 lbs in 9 weeks, I'm sure that in the remaining 18 weeks he will easily transform from fat body to hard body.

That's all for this week...
Love,
Amy
